AI agents now handle high-value transactions such as opening accounts, transferring funds and completing purchases, while bypassing traditional controls with valid credentials. Blind to this new class of actor, existing fraud, security and identity defenses leave enterprises unable to see or control a surging share of their own traffic. The recent recipient of the 2026 Morgan Stanley Innovation Award for its work with Morgan Stanley in identity and access management, Transmit Security is now, under Thompson’s leadership, extending its foundation beyond human identity, helping organizations establish trust with both people and their autonomous AI agents.
“AI agents are fundamentally changing how consumers interact with financial institutions and merchants, blurring the boundaries between identity, fraud prevention and cybersecurity,” said Matt Thompson, CEO of Transmit Security. “As consumers increasingly rely on AI agents to act on their behalf, businesses face a new challenge: identifying who, or what, is accessing their applications, understanding the risks and controlling what those agents can do. Existing solutions were designed for human interactions and lack the visibility needed for this new reality. Transmit Security is uniquely positioned to address this challenge, combining our leadership in identity orchestration with advanced intelligence and continuous protection across every customer interaction.”
Securing the Invisible Era of Autonomous AI Agents
“As AI agents act on behalf of people and businesses, enterprises need to understand who they represent, what they are doing, and what they are authorized to do,” said Travis Jarae, CEO of Liminal. “Matt Thompson’s experience building identity businesses, together with Transmit Security’s background in identity orchestration, positions the company to address that need. Visibility and governance over agent activity will be essential to earning enterprise trust.”
Transmit Security’s Agentic Trust addresses a growing pain – AI agents increasingly acting on behalf of humans: opening accounts, initiating transfers, disputing charges and completing purchases, appearing as legitimate users. Security and fraud defenses built to tell humans from bots were never designed for a third kind of actor that is neither. The result is a growing share of traffic that enterprises cannot identify, measure or control: their customers, transacting invisibly.
Agentic Trust is built around a simple, critical sequence: detect, classify, then govern. These new capabilities give enterprises the full picture before they set policy:
- Detect agent traffic across online channels, including agents that never identify themselves.
- Classify which agent is acting, from leading AI assistants to custom automation frameworks, and infer what it is trying to do.
- Investigate agent activity with tools and research into each agent’s capabilities.
- Govern every agent with scoped, time-limited permissions: allow it, limit it, hold risky actions for the customer’s approval, or stop it.
“Now is our chance to capture a market opportunity that is moving at tremendous speed,” said Mickey Boodaei, co-founder of Transmit Security. “We have watched Matt’s accomplishments closely over the past decade and saw a timely opportunity for him to lead us through the next phase of exponential growth as enterprises cannot afford to choose between allowing anything and blocking everything.”
A CEO Who Has Built Identity Businesses at Scale
Thompson has spent his career building identity businesses. He most recently served as President and Chief Commercial Officer at Socure where he helped grow the business more than 500% over the past five years; co-founded and served as President of ID.me; and led identity initiatives at Capital One and IDEMIA. His leadership approach was shaped by more than a decade of U.S. Army service, including four combat deployments and time as a Special Operations Officer.
